We are excited to share some wonderful news about a new chapter in the life of our shared ministry! Jonathan Troup will begin serving as our Vicar. In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the title “Vicar” is commonly given to someone who is preparing for ordained ministry while gaining practical experience serving a congregation. A Vicar carries out many pastoral responsibilities—including preaching, leading worship, teaching, providing pastoral care, visiting members, and participating in the daily life of the church—while continuing his theological education. Jonathan will serve our congregations and continue his preparation for ordained ministry under the guidance and supervision of Bishop Emeritus Ralph Jones. Bishop Emeritus Ralph Jones will be our worship leader on the first Sunday of each month and Jonathan will be assisting minister. Jonathan will be the worship leader during the rest of the Sundays each month.

Jonathan has already faithfully served our two churches, as well as other congregations throughout our conference. We are delighted to welcome him into this new role and to support him as he continues his studies and preparation for ordained ministry.

Our Sunday worship services are held at New Life Lutheran Church, located at 1209 Leroy Road in Marion Center, at 9:00 a.m., and at Hope Lutheran Church, located at 35 Ridge Avenue in Homer City, at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is warmly invited to join us for worship and welcome Jonathan as he begins his ministry with our congregations.

We hope you will come meet Jonathan, if you have not already had the opportunity, and help us welcome him as our Vicar. We look forward with joy and hope to all that God has planned for the Hope and New Life Shared Ministry.
